London has Soho, Paris the Left Bank, New York has Greenwich Village. It is hard to believe an area exists on the bustling island of Manhattan where one can casually meander through quiet peaceful tree lined streets, browsing at the antique stores, second hand bookstores and enjoy a coffee in the quirky outdoor cafes.
' The Village' as it is known by the locals is protected by a historic ordinance by the City of New York, which strictly governs the look and feel of the area. The area lies south of Fourteenth Street, north of Houston Street and West of Fifth Ave. The Hudson River runs along it's western perimeter.
