is situated right in the middle of the Lake District
in Northwest England. It is one of the most beautiful and
scenic parts of the United Kingdom. Peter Myers grew up in
Keswick, and takes ideas and inspiration from his memories
of the family business back home.
The district is an important walking area due to the terrain
and a bustling hive of activity, especially in the Summer
months. Keswick lies on Derwent Water. Windemere, Ullswater,
Crummock and Bassenthwaite (home of Nobby Clark) are the
surrounding bodies of water. The town lies between the impressive
peaks of Skiddaw and Scafell. Keswick is an old mining town,
many of the buildings are Victorian. If you are touring
the area, consider a boat tour on Derwent Water.
May we also suggest that while you are visiting sunny Keswick,
that you drop in to two of our favorite places . Mick Taylor's
"Old Keswickian" fish and chip shop, slap bang
in the middle of market square. Tell them that you have
come from the USA, and they will obligingly add 10% extra
to your bill!!! Next stop is Michael's, just around the
corner on Station Street. Michael's son, Stephen, thinks
he makes Pork Pies as good as ours. Should you have the
temerity to disabuse him of this notion, make sure he doesn't
have a knife in his hand!!! You may also try Michael's Cumberland
Sausage. They are on a par with ours - and so they should
be - its our recipe. Michael also makes a single serving
hot pot. It truly is the best in the Northwest, though it
could use a little more blackpuddin'.ks
